It took place this year at the Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg and was organised under the motto ‘Bridging the gap’. From Regensburg, Prof Dr Andrea Pfingsten, research assistants Johannis Mertens and Valentin Schedel as well as ten students and alumni actively participated in the two-day event.
The symposium offered an ideal platform for the exchange and presentation of research and project results in a tight programme. The following contributions were made by the Physiotherapy Laboratory and the student groups:
- Workshop on Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE): Prof Dr Andrea Pfingsten, Johannis Mertens and Valentin Schedel led an interactive workshop that dealt in detail with the implementation of PNE in physiotherapy practice and the evidence base on the effectiveness of the educational intervention.
- Presentation on the TePUS project: Valentin Schedel presented insights into the completed TePUS research project and stimulated exciting discussions on the implementation of telemedical interventions in physiotherapy.
- Short lectures and poster presentations by the students: The group led by Nick Braune, Magdalena Greiner, Fiona Kappen, Sophie Kerscher, Cornelia Mezler and Lea Walter presented their work on the topic of ‘Cognitive-Motor Interference in Dual Tasking’. Sabrina Furtner, Lena Gebhard, Daniel Kaulhausen, Leonie Mangold and Sarah Petermaier examined differences in the country-specific training of physiotherapists. The project on the willingness to use PNE among German physiotherapists by Sandra Schmidt, Anna Weiser, Melissa Heyartz, Kevin Fernsimer and Sabrina Osterried was presented by Valentin Schedel.
- Doctoral project ‘Exoskeletal support in nursing’: Prof Dr Andrea Pfingsten gave a short presentation on the doctoral project of our former colleague Prof Dr Hannah Brandt.
The keynote speeches by Prof Hans Lund, Prof Dr Anne Gärtner, Prof Dr Annette Probst and Ass. Prof. Dr Alessio Bricca, PhD, which were followed by the symposium participants.
Many thanks to the organisation team around Prof. Dr. Christian Kopkow from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg for the excellent planning, the inspiring contributions and the pleasant atmosphere. It was a pleasure to be there again this year with so many students and alumni of OTH Regensburg and to present the progress of our joint work. Everyone is already looking forward to the next symposium on 21 and 22 November 2025 in Bremen!
