Preliminary maths course

The ‘maths boost’ for your studies

Good preparation is everything! Around 138 first-year students took part in a two-week preliminary maths course at OTH Regensburg in September. Having refreshed their maths skills, they are now well prepared to start their studies.

Every year, prospective students flock to the lecture theatres at OTH Regensburg two weeks before the start of the semester. As in the previous round, this year's course was once again ‘full house’: 138 first-year students from the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology as well as the Industrial Design and Building Climatology courses at the Faculty of Architecture prepared intensively for the 2024/2025 winter semester in the preliminary maths course. Every year, the course offers a good opportunity to refresh and deepen maths skills in order to facilitate the transition to university.

The preparatory course in mathematics was organised by the Centre for Continuing Education and Knowledge Management (ZWW) for the 15th time. The first-year students are taught by Prof. Dr Ulrich Briem, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and Prof. Dr Valter Böhm, Professor of Technical Mechanics, also from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
