With 15 international guests from partner universities around the world, the foyer of the new building of the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics became a place of global exchange. Students were able to establish important networks, listen to lectures and collect information material and ask their most pressing questions at more than 20 information stands. Another highlight was the participation of numerous OTH students who had gained experience abroad in previous semesters. They were available on a voluntary basis to give first-hand accounts of their experiences and offer valuable insights and advice to those interested.
The guest lectures by representatives from foreign universities such as the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, ENSSAT (France), Te Pukenga Eastern Institute of Technology (New Zealand), Iwate Prefectural University (Japan), Kwantlen Polytechnic University (Canada) and many others were very popular. They introduced their home universities and explained the possibilities for studying abroad.
Professors Georg Raptis and Markus Westner, the international representatives of the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics at OTH Regensburg, Janina Scheidl, Coordinator Outgoing Students, and Elisabeth Schmid, Coordinator Internship Abroad of the International Office of OTH Regensburg, were available to answer questions. They explained the financial possibilities for a semester abroad, such as the ERASMUS+ and PROMOS programmes. They also dispelled common myths about stays abroad and encouraged students to take advantage of this unique opportunity. Elisabeth Schmid complemented the discussion with information about the opportunities and challenges of a practical semester abroad.
Finally, the student council of the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics provided a pleasant end to the event with a barbecue on the campus grounds.
The international guests enjoyed their stay at OTH Regensburg very much and thus paved the way for an increasing exchange of students and lecturers. The Study Abroad Fair was a complete success and showed how enriching and valuable a stay abroad can be during studies.
