University library receives seal of quality

The University Library of the OTH Regensburg, the Regensburg University Library and the Regensburg City Library have been awarded the ‘Libraries - Partners of Schools 2024-2026’ seal of approval.

The seal of approval is awarded every two years by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts and the State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs. This year, a total of 82 libraries throughout Bavaria received this special recognition for their outstanding cooperation with schools. The jury is made up of experts from various library and educational institutions and honours libraries that are particularly committed to promoting reading and media skills.

At the award ceremony at the Mozartareal in Würzburg, Minister of Art Markus Blume and Minister of Education Anna Stolz personally congratulated the winners. Minister Blume emphasised the important role of libraries as ‘filling stations for intellectual nourishment’ and ‘bulwarks against fake news’, which are valuable places of learning and experience for children and young people, especially in the digital age. Minister of Culture Stolz also recognised the commitment of the award-winning libraries, which use creative and diverse offers to inspire a love of reading and make young visitors fit to deal with information.

We are delighted to receive this award and look forward to continuing to promote the information skills of schoolchildren through our modular training concept.
