OTH Regensburg is also part of this pioneering project and hosted the second face-to-face meeting of the project family on 17 and 18 February. Prof. Dr Birgit Rösel, vhb representative and Vice President for Studies and Teaching at OTH Regensburg, welcomed the instructional designers from the supporting universities and emphasised the innovative power of the project. In her welcoming address, Dr Ellen-Steffi Widera, Managing Director of the vhb, emphasised the special role of the Bavarian Virtual University in networking the Bavarian higher education landscape and stressed the importance of instructional design and creative impulses for future-oriented teaching.
In eight interactive workshops spread over the two days, the instructional designers exchanged ideas on didactic methods to support lecturers in the design phase of their courses, for example. They also discussed how the visibility of the project can be further strengthened at the individual universities.
The participants summarised the two busy days in a positive light: the exchange brought the project group a decisive step forward. The instructional designers were particularly impressed by the modern learning environment at OTH Regensburg. The ‘Instructional Designer@vhb’ project makes it clear that innovative teaching design, the networking of teaching and collaborative approaches are decisive building blocks for the university teaching of the future.
Lecturers at OTH Regensburg also benefit from this: Manuel Glondys, Instructional Designer at the Teaching and Didactics Service Centre, advises them on the various vhb funding channels and possible application scenarios in their own teaching.
