Between January and August 2024, around 7500 students were surveyed in the current CHE Master's ranking, which covers the degree programmes Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science - including those on the Master's degree programme in Computer Science at OTH Regensburg. In all ten criteria recorded on the website www.heystudium.de/ranking, the Master's degree programme in Computer Science is among the top in Germany. In a Bavaria-wide comparison, it even achieved the best rating.
The CHE Ranking includes both student judgements and facts about teaching and research. The universities are assessed individually for each subject and criterion. For the factual criteria, the universities or departments are categorised into a top, a middle and a bottom group. Students rate the study situation on a scale of one to five stars.
Master's students on the Computer Science programme at OTH Regensburg rated all indexes better than the average values in the survey. The students at OTH Regensburg gave the highest rating of five stars for the organisation of their studies. The research orientation (4.9 stars), the range of courses (4.8 stars), the practical orientation in teaching (4.8 stars) and the support for studying abroad (4.9 stars) were also rated very positively. The Master's in Computer Science at postgraduate level ranks in the top group in terms of completing degrees in a reasonable time (standard period of study + 1 or 2 semesters).
‘The students give us an excellent report, which impressively reflects the quality of our teaching. Especially in the 50th anniversary year of Computer Science and Mathematics at OTH Regensburg, this shows that we are on the right track and are preparing students excellently for professional life with comprehensive support, our modern equipment and practice-orientated teaching. This is a credit to the faculty as a whole and I would like to expressly thank the entire faculty team, whose extraordinary commitment has made this success possible,’ says Prof Dr Frank Herrmann, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics.
‘This excellent rating in the CHE ranking emphasises the exceptional strength of the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics in research and teaching. Especially in the 50th anniversary year of Computer Science and Mathematics, it shows how first-class the faculty is in terms of research, teaching and practical orientation. With the Doctoral Centre for Applied Computer Science, we are also creating forward-looking prospects for our graduates who would like to continue working scientifically after completing their Master's degree,’ emphasises Prof. Dr. Ralph Schneider, President of OTH Regensburg.
The new CHE Master's ranking is now available on HeyStudium, DIE ZEIT's study guidance portal. The ranking appears in extracts in the current issue of ZEIT Campus and can be accessed free of charge here.
