Around 20 alumni who have completed a degree at OTH Regensburg in the past five years received important tips and tricks after work on 25 October 2024 to make their own working life more enjoyable with tools such as ChatGPT. A joint dinner at Restaurant Unikat rounded off the evening and gave participants the opportunity to discuss the challenges they face in their first years at work with other young professionals.
The use cases of chatbots in the working environment range from the pure procurement of information and the creation of application documents, to training for job interviews and the planning of career goals, to support in the areas of PR & sales and support. Trainer Johannes Ostner, himself an alumnus of the Bachelor's degree programme in Computer Science and the Master's degree programme Applied Research in Engineering Sciences at OTH Regensburg and Managing Director of 42 Coding Solutions GmbH, first gave the participants a selection of possible uses of AI in everyday working life.
This was followed by an overview of various tools and their functionalities. The explanation of eleven components of a perfect prompt rounded off Johannes Ostner's input. In short practical phases, the alumni had the opportunity to try out what they had learnt on their own problems.
‘Don't be afraid of AI, but use it to make your day-to-day work easier!’ Johannes Ostner encouraged the participants. However, he also pointed out: ‘Results are not always correct, so please don't switch your head off and check the results.’ In this context, Johannes Ostner also provided important information on the topic of data protection.
The numerous questions from the participants showed the great interdisciplinary interest of the alumni from almost all faculties of the university. Lively discussions continued during the subsequent dinner.
