‘Working with the handbrake on is not my thing!’

From MTG award winner to partner in a commercial law firm: Carolin Kwasny has had an impressive career.

As part of the graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Business and Management, MTG-Wirtschaftskanzlei once again awarded a prize for outstanding Bachelor's and Master's theses. This year there is a special feature: the prize was presented by Carolin Kwasny, partner in the firm and herself a former prizewinner.

Kwasny laid the foundations for her professional career at MTG during her business administration studies at OTH Regensburg, which she completed with a diploma in 2007. As part of an internship semester and her diploma thesis, she focussed on municipal operator models and deepened her knowledge, which ultimately led the Regensburg native to the firm's specialist municipal consulting team. Her direct entry as a tax assistant at MTG enabled her to embark on a steep career path: after three years, she qualified as a tax consultant and rose to management level. She is now a partner in the commercial law firm.

‘The broad knowledge from my studies at OTH Regensburg, which included business administration, accounting, controlling and taxes as well as areas such as HR, economics and marketing, was the perfect foundation. The necessary technical depth for the areas of tax consulting and auditing only materialised for me in practice,’ says Kwasny. She was always looking for new challenges and either wanted to do something properly or not at all. ‘Working in a job with the handbrake on is not my thing,’ says Kwasny. She sees her partnership at MTG as a result of continuous work and not as a fixed goal: ‘The desire for more responsibility came with time.’

In her role as a partner, Kwasny not only advocates for her clients, but is also committed to promoting young talent who would also like to start their careers with the MTG award. MTG-Wirtschaftskanzlei, which now has five offices along the Danube - in Regensburg, Kelheim, Straubing, Ingolstadt and Nuremberg - supports medium-sized companies in the areas of tax advice, auditing and legal advice and rounds off its service portfolio for medium-sized companies with its specialised teams such as corporate and asset succession, financial advisory and cyber security / IT consulting.

Since 2006, the MTG business law firm has honoured bachelor's and master's theses in business administration that deal with practice-relevant topics, particularly in the fields of accounting, corporate management and controlling, and are highly relevant to business practice with the MTG Prize. OTH Regensburg and MTG have been closely linked for a long time - not only through the 1500 euro prize, but also through guest lectures, the MTG Award and, of course, MTG's regular participation in the university's internal careers fair Connecta, which Kwasny recently attended again. ‘This year was the first time in a long time that I've been back to OTH Regensburg at CONNECTA, I wandered through the corridors and took a look inside the lecture theatre. It makes you feel a bit sentimental,’ says Kwasny.
