As part of the consultation, two intensive consultation days were held at OTH Regensburg in March 2024, in which experts from various universities were involved as peers (more information about the event: Peer-to-peer consultation at OTH Regensburg).
These two-day counselling days offered all status groups (teaching staff, students, administrative staff, university management) the opportunity to express their ideas and also reservations on the topics of future skills and microcredentials and to develop ideas for strategic further development. The discussions during the consultation days and the self-report formed the basis for the comprehensive recommendation report, which was written by the peers and will serve as the basis for the next steps.
The final workshop took place in Berlin in September 2024 and was attended by the Vice President for Studies and Teaching, Prof. Dr Birgit Rösel, as well as Andrea de Santiago and PD Dr Fang Zhao from the Teaching and Didactics Service Centre. This workshop served to consolidate the results of the consultation and to plan the next steps.
Steps already implemented
On 11 June 2024, the project team (consisting of the Vice President for Studies and Teaching, Prof. Dr Birgit Rösel, Andrea de Santiago and PD Dr Fang Zhao from the Teaching and Didactics Service Centre and Prof. Dr Julia Hartmann) organised a Future Skills Community Day with Gallery Walk (more information: Future Skills Community Day 2024). The focus was on the presentation of the Future Skills and the further development of the definitions of the individual Future Skills. In addition, a workshop for teachers took place on 19 June 2024, in which theories and methods as well as research findings regarding Future Skills and the results of the Community Day were presented.
Open Badges have already been piloted in individual courses with different versions, including Future Skills. The in-service training programmes Future Skills for Business Professionals and Technology Skills for Business Professionals (5 ECTS) are currently being offered and tested as microcredentials.
Participation in the peer-to-peer strategy consultation programme has given OTH Regensburg valuable impetus and strengthened cooperation between different status groups at the university. As a result, the university is even better equipped to master the challenges of digital transformation and optimally prepare its students for the demands of the future.
