Across six sessions, spread over three weekend blocks, participants from a wide range of technical professions worked together in the computer labs of the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics at OTH Regensburg. The group consisted of professionals, some with non-academic backgrounds, particularly from the fields of machining, industrial mechanics and mechatronics. Their shared goal: to gain a practical understanding of the world of artificial intelligence.
To this end, the course combined theoretical input with plenty of opportunities for hands-on experimentation. Participants developed small machine learning projects – from the initial idea through to implementation and evaluation – an approach that was very well received. Interest in the KI-tech project extended well beyond the initial test group, highlighting the strong demand for further education in this field.
Initial feedback from participants was very positive. The evaluation results are now being analysed in detail in order to further adapt and, if needed, improve the programme. The mission of the “KI-tech” project is to firmly establish the topic of artificial intelligence within OTH Regensburg’s continuing education offering and to make the potential of this emerging technology accessible to professionals in the region.
