Whether academic excellence, innovative research projects or committed social work - the awards evening demonstrated the energy and dedication that characterise OTH Regensburg. Numerous prizes and scholarships were awarded in a festive setting to honour outstanding achievements. Representatives from various foundations and institutions presented the awards, expressing their appreciation for the students' efforts.
Prof. Dr Ralph Schneider, President of OTH Regensburg, opened the event and emphasised the importance of motivation and social commitment. Addressing the donors, he said: ‘You are supporting young people with outstanding abilities and thus promoting our science centre and the networking of science, business and society. In short: you create education!’
Wide range of scholarships and awards
The following prizes and scholarships were awarded on the awards evening:
- The international scholarships from the Otto Helmut and Alice Eckl Foundation , each worth 4,000 euros, went to: Melanie Angermüller, Fiona Haack, Johannes Kiener, Angelina Kurpiers, Felix Marschall, Peter Paulus, Alexandra Weigl, Gabriel Zollbrecht.
- The Foundation for the Promotion of OTH Regensburg presented Veronika Lang with the prize of 1,500 for her bachelor's thesis ‘Construction and commissioning of a transportable inverse pendulum including hardware and software’. Leo Scherer was awarded the prize for the best Master's thesis (‘Study of a Capacitive Measurement System for the Detection of Insects in Traps’) and thus also 1,500 euros. Dr rer. nat. Max Müller received 2,000 euros for his doctoral thesis entitled ‘Photoacoustic Spectroscopy for C1-C2 Hydrocarbon Monitoring in Ambient Air’.
- The Christa Lindner Foundation awarded a total of twelve prizes, each worth 1,000 euros, for final theses to: Christina Auburger, Anna Fieber, Chiara Mafessoni, Alexander Nefe, Christina Obermeier, Marie Pape, Fabio Renner, Nadine Riedl, Robert Saller, Stefanie Seubert, Violetta Tulba, Ellen Wey.
- This year's sponsorship awards from Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Regensburg-Schwandorf eG went to Moritz Berlinger (sponsorship award, 1,500 euros) and Christian Varyvoda, Laura Guppenberger and Daniel Steinhilber (scholarships, 1,000 euros each).
- The Soroptimist International Club Regensburg prize of 1,500 euros went to Franziska Kigele for her final thesis ‘Automatic system recognition and visualisation on the augmented reality glasses HoloLens2 with web application’ on the Electrical Engineering and Information Technology degree course.
- The DAAD Prize, endowed with 1,000 euros, was awarded to Omid Hassanzada in recognition of outstanding academic achievements and intercultural commitment.
- This year's recognition for ‘Encouragers’from the Verein der Freunde der OTH Regensburg and the Katholischen Jugendfürsorge der Diözese Regensburg e. V. in the amount of 500 euros each was awarded to Veronika Fausel and Lisa Pawlik for special achievements in studying with family responsibilities and to Johannes Butz and Andreas Huttner for special achievements in studying with disabilities/chronic illness.
- The Regensburg Biopark Innovation Award, endowed with 1,500 euros, went to Moritz Burger for his doctoral thesis ‘Development of an innovative implant for the minimally invasive treatment of isolated obital floor fractures’ at the Regensburg Centre of Biomedical Engineering.
- The Josef Stanglmeier Foundation awarded a total of six prizes of 2,500 euros each. Maximilian Bergmann, Katja Götz, Debora Klitscher, Franziska Lenz and Matthias Schrapf received a scholarship to study abroad. Julia Specht was honoured with the Innovation Award.
A valuable contribution to the region
The promotion and support of students by OTH Regensburg and its partners not only makes a significant contribution to the personal and professional development of the honourees, but also strengthens the region. Combining higher education with regional support promotes innovation and social cohesion.
