Hip problems often begin with minor complaints: for example, you can no longer get on your bike with your leg splayed out or you have a pulling sensation in your groin. A targeted training programme can improve mobility, strengthen the hip muscles and stretch the shortened structures. The team led by Prof. Dr Joachim Grifka, Head of the Orthopaedics and Ergonomics Research Centre at OTH Regensburg, has developed such a programme, which is being investigated as part of a study. A physical examination is carried out before the start of the programme and at the end to assess its success.
In addition, a biomechanical examination is carried out on selected participants by the team of Prof Dr Sebastian Dendorfer, Professor of Biomechanics, Musculoskeletal Simulation, Technical Mechanics at OTH Regensburg. The initial and final examinations are carried out at Biopark and OTH Regensburg. The exercise programme is made available via a web programme for self-training at home. Participants must train over a period of eight weeks.
They must not have undergone hip joint surgery. The minimum age for participation is 18; there is no upper age limit.
This special training programme was created on the basis of current studies and many years of experience in order to promote hip fitness.
