Under the motto ‘CIMIC - Fit for Future’, more than 200 participants from practice and academia came together at the CCOE to discuss the future of current trends in civil-military cooperation (CIMIC). The topics of the conference were addressed and explored in greater depth with an extensive supporting programme of specialist presentations, discussion panels and many opportunities for networking. The conference created opportunities for an interdisciplinary exchange between representatives of various institutions and companies, national government agencies and academic institutions. The personal exchange between experts and those interested in the topics of strategic foresight, civil-military cooperation and resilience contributed significantly to the success of the conference. For OTH Regensburg as an educational and research institution, the event was a valuable opportunity to establish international contacts in practice and to exchange ideas with experts from various fields in order to promote long-term cooperation and joint projects.
The workshop led by OTH Regensburg focussed on the topic of ‘Resilience and Domestic Civil-Military Cooperation’. The aim was to explore the concept of resilience in the context of civil-military cooperation in various working steps, bring together participants from different areas, network stakeholders and get them to work together. In a concluding panel discussion, experts, including Prof. Dr Markus Bresinsky, Professor at OTH Regensburg, discussed the results of the participants' work and the future challenges in civil-military cooperation and strategic foresight.
As a university that is active in teaching and research, participation in the Annual CIMIC Foresight Conference in The Hague provided the opportunity to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The conference highlighted the essential role of resilience in civil-military cooperation. The discussions, presentations and workshops provided the OTH Regensburg team with valuable insights that can now be incorporated into future projects. In view of the global challenges of the future, strengthening resilience in the context of civil-military cooperation is crucial for successfully overcoming any crisis.
