"Digitalization is an essential foundation for the success of the energy transition."

emphasized Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy, during the C/sells Ministerial Dialogue Bavaria in April 2019.

The energy landscape is undergoing a profound transformation, evolving into a dynamic system with numerous small-scale producers. This shift results in a more intricate supply structure. Maximizing the potential of all consumers and producers while harnessing flexibility is essential. To achieve this, digital technology and smart grids play a crucial role in efficiently managing and monitoring the grid infrastructure's development. As a result, new concepts and innovative solutions are emerging.

The 5th Regensburg Energy Congress explored the current status of digitalization in the energy sector, highlighting implemented strategies, existing challenges, and remaining hurdles. Presentations from political, scientific, and business perspectives shed light on the journey so far and provided insights into best practices that offer valuable lessons for the future.
