Mentoring at the OTH Regensburg

Mentoring - What is it?

Mentoring serves the individual support and further development and can help especially in situations of transition (beginning of studies, end of studies) to better master these situations. The mentoring programs of the OTH Regensburg are an offer to give schoolgirls, first-year students, students and young academics the opportunity to network, to establish contacts, to further develop themselves and to receive support and guidance.

Mentoring is an innovative, effective, and proven tool for supporting young professionals, both in their studies and in their careers.

The basis of mentoring is the self-organized, non-hierarchical relationship between an experienced person (mentor) and a less experienced person (mentee).

What does mentoring involve?

The mentoring programs at OTH Regensburg build on the personal relationship between mentee and mentor*. Various aspects can play a role in this:

  • Exchange of experience
  • Passing on informal knowledge and contacts
  • Individual counseling and feedback
  • Career development
  • Support in network development

MINToring

In MINToring, OTH Regensburg cooperates with secondary schools to promote interest in STEM among girls at an early stage. Female students can answer specific technical questions, provide an insight into studying, inform about the requirements for studying and pass on experiences and tips to the schoolgirls.

Mentoring "Academic Steps

With the mentoring program Academic Steps, OTH Regensburg supports particularly qualified young scientists with the career goal HAW professorship in their career development. The mentoring tandem with a professor with professional experience and the accompanying continuing education and networking formats support career planning, impart relevant skills, and strengthen professional networking.
