What career prospects do I have?

With the part-time degree programme, you will acquire the academic degree "Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)".
Information on the various connection options is summarised below.

  • Nurses who have completed the Evidence Based Practice programme are able to act in an evidence-based manner in direct patient care and can expand their range of tasks. Academisation opens up additional opportunities for in-depth and specialised practice and for the further development of the profession:

    • Development and monitoring of quality standards in clinics and care facilities
    • Collegial counselling for dealing with nursing problems according to the latest research
    • Qualified guidance for trainees and nursing students
    • Development of treatment guidelines and protocols
    • Active participation in research projects
    • Teaching at universities or other educational institutions
    • and much more

  • The degree programme offers the best prerequisites for a subsequent Master's degree – either with a Master's degree in nursing science, such as the Master Advanced Nursing Practice (M.Sc.), or with the part-time Master's degree programmes in Leadership and Communication Management (M.A.) or Business Administration (MBA; for non-business first degree programmes) at OTH Regensburg.

STRUCTURE AND MODULES

How is the degree programme structured?

The degree programme is designed for part-time study and has a standard duration of nine semesters. Attendance periods of two block weeks and weekend sessions on two days (e.g. Thursday/Friday) are planned. The choice of specialisation is specified at the time of enrolment and is based on the specialist further training that has been started or completed. The EBP Nursing degree programme builds on the professional expertise you have acquired during your training as a nurse and your practical work experience. Based on this expertise, 105 credit points will be credited to your degree programme, so you only need to earn 105 credit points. This reduces the duration of the programme to 6 semesters.

The following key topics will be covered as part of your degree programme:

  • In-depth study of the nursing science specialisations in the fields of practice (depending on your choice of specialisation)
  • Scientific work and research methods
  • Evidence-based nursing care
  • Quality management
  • Digital health
  • Anthropology and ethics

Further information will be available shortly in the study and examination regulations, the study plan and the module handbook.

STUDIES AND ORGANISATIONAL MATTERS

So that everything runs smoothly

How is the degree programme organised? What lecture times do I have? What else is important in the part-time Evidence Based Practice Nursing degree programme? You can find answers to these and other questions here.

  • The courses take place in a compact block model (one block of four days at the beginning and end of the semester) and approximately fortnightly on two days (e.g. Thursday/Friday). The Bavarian school holidays are usually lecture-free (Christmas, August). The dates are always announced well in advance, approx. six months in advance, so that you can easily organise them to fit in with your work schedule. The course is organised in such a way that it can be completed alongside a full-time job.

All courses take place on the OTH Regensburg campus at the Seybothstraße and Prüfeningerstraße locations. The entire university infrastructure is available to you during your studies (IT equipment, library, student centre, canteen, university sports facilities, etc.). They are enrolled in the same way as all other students.

  • There are various entry routes:

You can either have the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences or the general higher education entrance qualification and have completed relevant vocational training (healthcare and nursing assistant, healthcare and nursing assistant, nursing specialist or certified geriatric nurse) or

You have a subject-specific university entrance qualification for professionally qualified students (Bavarian Higher Education Act Art. 45) through at least two years of vocational training at a technical college and at least three years of professional experience (healthcare and nursing assistant, healthcare and nursing assistant, nursing specialist or certified geriatric nurse) combined with a one-year trial course. A prerequisite for enrolment on the course is participation in a counselling interview.

In addition, you must have already started or completed the DKG further training course in your chosen specialisation.
