The Internationalisation Strategy at the OTH Regensburg
The OTH Regensburg's internationalisation strategy was adopted by the University Council in February 2025. This was preceded by an intensive participatory process. Internationality is a profile-forming topic in the University Development Plan (HEP) of the OTH Regensburg, and the process of renewing the internationalisation strategy from the ground up was initiated with the definition of the goals in the HEP. Numerous university stakeholders were involved in this process: Vice President for Research and International Affairs, student representatives, the Internationalisation Steering Committee (Lenkungskreis Internationalisierung), Extended University Directorate (EHL), deans of the faculties, International Office, Communications Department, Center for Research and Transfer, administration and service units.
The strategy aims to strengthen the international orientation of the university in teaching, studies, research, and administration, to promote intercultural skills, to counteract the shortage of skilled workers and to increase the international visibility of the OTH Regensburg.
In line with our mission statement and our University Development Plan, this strategy paper with a time horizon until 2027 is intended to serve as an instrument for defining objectives, planning and implementing suitable measures in the following three key target areas: Internationality of studies and teaching, internationality of research and knowledge transfer, internationality of university life. Fields of action were defined within the key target areas, from which concrete goals and measures for implementation were derived.
