What is the International Summer School Courses in "Intelligence and Analysis Studies" about?
The module "Intelligence Processes, Methodology and Strategic Analysis" focuses on best practice routines and gives insights into the challenges of conducting a profound intelligence analysis. In the module "Consultation and Decision Support", participants will acquire the necessary know-how to consult clients, decision-makers, and stakeholders on intelligence products both orally and in writing.
Both modules are part of a Summer School for the International Master’s program in Security, Intelligence, and Strategic Studies (IMSISS) at the University of Glasgow and are taught in English. Through this, participants will also develop their intercultural and English language competencies.

How are the International Summer School Courses structured?
The modules of the International Summer School can only be attended in combination with each other.
Content
- Strategic intelligence and analysis, historical overview and case studies
- Introduction to intelligence processes, strengths and vulnerabilities
- Structured analysis and critical thinking techniques
- Intelligence production – expectations, limitations and functions
Objectives
Participants learn to apply relevant processes such as the intelligence and collection cycle, the target centric approach and critical information requirements to the development of a strategic intelligence product. During this process, participants will also review analytical methods regarding their strengths and limitations.

- Elements of successful presentations: structure, design, and visualization
- Feedback for presentations: both from the plenum and the individual lecturers
- Critical reading and writing skills for intelligence analysis
- Stylistic requirements of writing for the intelligence and security communities
- Writing techniques relevant to analysis and decision-making
Objectives
Participants study and apply the best practices, competencies, and skills necessary to effectively consult clients, decision-makers, and stakeholders on intelligence findings and products.

Both modules will take place at the OTH Regensburg.
- Bachelor’s or diploma degree in a field with an international or social-scientific reference
- Professional experience of at least five months
- Written and spoken command of the English language
On completion of the modules participants receive a certificate and 5 credit points (ECTS) for each module.
