Dual study program

At the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule it is also possible to study many degree courses on a dual basis . This means that you not only learn the theory at the university, but can also combine it with practical experience in a company. To this end, OTH Regensburg works together with the umbrella brand for dual study programs in Bavaria, hochschule dual.

Dual study programs

Many of our degree programs can also be studied on a dual basis. In these cases, OTH Regensburg offers two dual study models:

academic study with intensive in-company training (Bachelor's & Master's degree programs)
academic study combined with vocational training (Bachelor's degree courses only)

Academic study combined with vocational training in the company. In German: Verbundstudium.

Two degrees: Bachelor's degree & final examination in the training occupation (IHK, HWK, ...)

Duration: approx. 4.5 years

Practical units: up to 30 months of practical experience

Note: For the Siemens Professional Education (SPE) special model, please note deviations in the course of study and training!

Combination of university studies and intensive practical work in the company. In German: Studium mit vertiefter Praxis (SmvP)

Degree: Bachelor's degree

Duration: approx. 3.5 years

Practical units: at least 50% more practical experience than non-dual students

Note: Entry is usually possible by the end of the lecture period of the 4th semester at the latest.

Degree: Master's degree

Duration: 1.5 years

Practical units: at least 8.5 months of practical experience, incl. Master's thesis

What do I need to consider?

The above-mentioned dual models are open to prospective students in many of our degree programmes. Students can opt for a degree programme with academic study with intensive in-company training up to a certain point in their studies.

On the right-hand side of the screen on the respective degree programme pages, you can see whether your degree programme is also available on a dual basis. You are also welcome to contact Ms Köpf from the General Student Advisory Service and clarify with her whether your desired dual study programme is possible.

Become a cooperation partner of OTH Regensburg

In order to be able to offer a dual study program together with OTH Regensburg, a so-called cooperation agreement must be concluded.

For this we need an official request to the e-mail address dualesstudium(at)oth-regensburg.dewith the following information:

Brief company description and, if applicable, company presentation
Study program
Study model (academic study combined with vocational training / academic study with intensive in-company training (Bachelor/Master)
Apprenticeship occupation (only for combined studies)
Organizational contact person
Mentor (professionally competent supervisor)

Please note: For enquiries about the degree programmes: Informatik, Wirtschaftsinformatik, Scientific Computing and Mathematics, a separate application is required. You can request this by e-mail .

As soon as the request has been received, it will be forwarded to the dual representative of the respective degree program. If this person agrees, a cooperation agreement can be drawn up.
