Transfer of knowledge

Parsberg-Lupburg Technology Campus: From vision to prime example

In just five years, the Technology Campus (TC) Parsberg-Lupburg has developed magnificently in collaboration with the Digital Start-up Centre Parsberg e.V.. At the anniversary celebration, a rich programme offered a variety of insights.

The anniversary celebrations began on 17 October with a specialist forum on the topic of ‘Non-contact detection of internal geometric defects using optical measurement technology’, followed by the opportunity to take practical measurements. The lively interest in the research area and the work of the campus was already evident here. The open day on 18 October began with a festive reception at which Mayor Josef Bauer welcomed the guests and paid tribute to the remarkable development of the Campus. Five years ago, the Technology Campus was a vision that was realised with the support of the town of Parsberg, the market town of Lupburg and the commitment of personalities such as Albert Füracker. Today, the campus is a prime example of successful knowledge transfer and an important location for research and innovation in the fields of materials science, production technology and digitalisation.

A special highlight of the celebrations was the in-house exhibition with the open laboratories: Visitors had the opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art laboratories and find out about current research projects. The innovations presented included projects for quality assurance in production and thermodiagnostic methods for component optimisation. Specialist forums on topics such as optical measurement technology, agricultural sensor technology and innovative carrier systems attracted a great deal of interest and emphasised the close links between the campus and regional industry. Start-ups supported by the Digital Start-up Centre took the opportunity to present their business ideas and network with potential partners.

Closely connected with the regional economy

The close cooperation between the Technology Campus and the regional economy was a central theme of the event. Mayor Bauer and the scientific directors of the campus emphasised that numerous companies from the region benefit from collaborations with the campus. ‘We have top-class equipment and staff with enormous expertise, which enables us to offer industry multi-faceted collaborations,’ explained the new operational director Korbinian Schröcker. This close integration of research and practice not only strengthens the regional economy, but also ensures that young specialists remain in the region after their studies.

The success story of the Digital Start-up Centre Parsberg e.V., which was founded alongside the Technology Campus, should also be highlighted. In the last five years, 15 start-up teams have successfully developed their business ideas, six of which have already established themselves in the region. The association, headed by Paul Boland, supports the founders with a broad network and regularly offers workshops and events that are of interest not only to start-ups but also to established companies.

TC Parsberg-Lupburg and the digital start-up centre have become indispensable

The anniversary celebration ended with a positive conclusion: the Parsberg-Lupburg Technology Campus and the Digital Start-up Centre have become an integral part of the region and have managed to convince both sceptics and supporters alike.

Visitors to the event agreed that the campus and the start-up centre will continue to play a central role in the regional innovation landscape in the coming years.
