How are places in the NC (restricted admission) Bachelor programs allocated?
First we consider the candidates eligible for „priority admission“.
Priority admission
You can receive priority admission if you have received admission for a program with restricted admission during the past two application periods, but were unable to take your place of study due to starting a vocational training as part of a joint study program or due to starting on of the following services:
- Voluntary service in Germany ("Freiwilligendienst")
- Military service in Germany ("Wehrdienst") or service in the federal border patrol for up to three years
- Civil service ("Zivildienst") in Germany or abroad
- Voluntary year in civil or environmental service (FSJ / FÖJ)
- A service of at least two years in development aid
- Caring for a minor child or a relative in need of care for up to three years (documentation needed)
In order to request priority admission, you need to submit a regular application in due time and form after completing the service. Please add a copy of a preliminary confirmation of service and your previous admission notice to your application. Based on priority admission, you can receive a place of study after completing your service.
In addition, we consider the following special quotas:
- 2 % for hardship cases
- 5 % for international applicants from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and foreign nationals that do not have a German university entrance qualification (exclusion quota)
- 2 % for applicants who have acquired the qualification for the chosen course of study in a degree program that has not yet been completed.
- 2 % for applicants for a second degree (exclusion quota)
- 4 % for vocationally qualified applicants according to art. 88 Abs. 5 und 6 BayHIG. Within this quota there is another special quota for "Gesellinnen/Gesellen". The percentage of this special quota is proportional to the percentage of vocationally qualified applicants from the total number of applications according to art. 88 Abs. 5 und 6 BayHIG. (exclusion quote)
- 2 % top athletes and national competition participants with a distinction
- 6 % for applicants for a dual study program (academic studies & apprenticeship)
The remaining study places are allocated by qualification (average grade).
Special quota for FOS and BOS
Within the quota which receives places of study based on the grade of the university entrance qualification, there is a special quota for applicants who obtained their university entrance qualification at a German "Fachoberschule" (FOS) or "Berufsoberschule" (BOS). The percentage of this special quota is based on the percentage of the applicants with FOS/BOS qualifications out of the total number of applicants.
