Whether digital or analog, in the lecture hall, office or at the kitchen table - lectures, discussions and meetings are appointments that can be extremely tiring, especially due to long periods of sitting and the concentration required. If you're out of breath or have finished your coffee, it's hard to avoid dozing off.
The active break is designed for precisely this situation. Short videos (around 6 minutes each) instruct and demonstrate easy movement exercises that can be carried out in any lecture hall, conference room or office. Firmly integrated into everyday university life, regular active breaks keep you fit, healthy and focused - for a radiant performance, even on long days.
The videos were made available with the kind support of the University of Regensburg.

Even if the kitchen table at home has to serve as a solution, employees can still work in a safe and relaxed manner.
For infection control reasons, many companies are currently planning to send employees to work from home, or have already done so. However, there will not be permanent teleworking stations everywhere. If available, the home office with a desk and office chair is the best place to work. But even if the kitchen table at home has to serve as a solution, employees can still work in a safe and relaxed manner. The German Social Accident Insurance Institutions provide the following tips:
- Set up the device so that, if possible, no windows or light sources are reflected in it or you have to look into the backlight. Daylight is best from the side.
- The distance to the screen should be 50-70 cm.
- Use a separate keyboard, mouse and, if available, a separate screen for working on the notebook, as they enable a more ergonomic working posture.
- It is best to look down at the screen from above in a relaxed position, as if you were reading a book. For optimum vision, the monitor should be tilted backwards so that your gaze is perpendicular to the screen. This ensures that the head is slightly lowered when looking at the monitor, which prevents tension.
- Change your sitting posture more often and take breaks to prevent back tension
You are welcome to use further illustrative tips and suggestions for working from home or read the detailed recommendation of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV)

The fact that hormonal changes during the menopause can also affect women's health and well-being at work is obvious and was recently confirmed by a study conducted by the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR Berlin): According to this study, menopausal symptoms are not only felt individually, but also lead to sick leave, a health-related reduction in working hours and job changes for a relevant proportion of women.
Nevertheless, the topic of menopause is often taboo, especially in the workplace. Link to the study: https: //blog.hwr-berlin.de/menosupport/

There are two canteens and three cafeterias at OTH Regensburg. These are run by the Studierendenwerk Oberpfalz/Niederbayern. You can find the opening hours and locations of the facilities on their homepage. You can also find the canteen menu there, which can be conveniently sent to your cell phone via an app. The menu includes dishes from MensaVital.
