Although people are aware of the health risks of smoking, the number of serious attempts to stop smoking has fallen continuously in recent years. In order to increase the population's motivation to stop smoking and increase the number of quit attempts, the Institute for Therapy and Health Research (IFT-Nord) is organizing the nationwide join-in initiative "Smoke-free in May 2024" with funding from the Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA).
Until the end of April 2024, smokers aged 18 and over who regularly use cigarettes, e-cigarettes or tobacco heaters, as well as supporters if they wish, can register and, with a little luck, win up to 1,000 euros if they successfully quit smoking in May. Participants will initially be accompanied in April with a countdown and ideas for preparation.
Then, from May 1 to 31, 2024, they will receive useful tips and motivational inspiration every day to help them quit smoking. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact the "Smoke-free in May" team: rauchfrei-im-mai(at)ift-nord.de or directly at www.rauchfrei-im-mai.de
