Quality assurance in studies and teaching
In addition to process and document management, quality assurance in studies and teaching at OTH Regensburg comprises three interlocking control loops in particular.
- Seven-year control loop: iSA process (process for awarding the seal of the Accreditation Council)
- Annual control loop: SIL and teaching report
- Continuous control loop: Study program commissions
These are briefly explained below.
Seven-year control loop - iSA process
The iSA process is the core element of quality assurance in studies and teaching. In addition to the internal accreditation of study programs, it also serves the continuous further development. With the help of a standardized list of criteria, the implementation of all formal and subject-related accreditation criteria is ensured. The results of the accreditation procedures are documented and published in the form of quality reports (see website Accredited study programs).
The seven-year control cycle is at the heart of the procedures for the initial accreditation or reaccreditation of study programs. Every study program must undergo the iSA process every seven years. The entire accreditation procedure is coordinated and initiated by the QuO staff unit.
Internal accreditation procedure
The assessment of the degree program(s) is carried out by a group of mainly external experts. The central quality assurance element is the inspection of the degree program as part of an internal audit. In these audits, the assessors conduct interviews with those responsible for the degree program, teaching staff and students. The assessment is based on a standardized list of criteria.
The internal accreditation commission (iAkkrKom), which is responsible for determining the binding results, receives the standardized report. The internal Accreditation Commission can issue conditions or recommendations for a degree program and evaluates the fulfillment of conditions. The commission also decides on accreditation extensions and significant changes in accordance with the university's internal procedures.
In the event that faculties do not accept the decisions of the internal accreditation commission, a "conciliation commission" is set up. This is headed by the President, who can call in additional members. If necessary, this can also include an external expert.
Continuous control loop
The degree program committees are responsible for the subject-specific further development of the degree programs within the continuous control loop. They involve the following status groups:
- Teaching staff,
- students,
- students and graduates,
- Faculty staff,
- Department of Studies and Service Centers and
- cooperation partners.
The committee must meet at least once every three years and involve all status groups.
Annual control loop
Within the annual control cycle, the SIL report (Statistics - Indicators - Teaching) is prepared by the QuO staff unit. This is based on current statistical data and central internal and external survey results. The target topics defined in the SIL report are discussed within the degree program committee and necessary measures are developed. The Dean of Studies lists the results of these discussions in the teaching report.
