Bicycle-friendly university

Welcome to the OTH Regensburg website

on the subject of bicycles!

We are passionate about promoting the bicycle as a cost-effective and climate-neutral alternative for transportation in Regensburg. Our goal is to facilitate access to bicycles for both students and employees, to create a positive environment for cyclists and to promote sustainable mobility and environmental protection. As a university that strives to be bicycle-friendly, we attach great importance, for example, to improving infrastructure and accessibility, increasing safety measures and integrating the topic of cycling into the university culture.

We invite all students and staff to actively participate in our initiatives. Whether you are a passionate cyclist, already have your own ideas or are simply curious - your contribution is welcome! Together we will make our university an even more bicycle-friendly place.

In Regensburg, a city that strives to be bicycle-friendly , we take numerous measures to support and facilitate cycling:

  1. Bike racks: numerous bike racks are available on our campus, allowing bikes to be parked safely and conveniently close to lecture halls. We attach great importance to having sufficient capacity to accommodate all cyclists.

  2. Repair station: The free repair station donated by Connecta e.V. offers all students and staff the opportunity to carry out minor repairs themselves. Equipped with tools such as a holder and pump, it is the perfect place to keep your own bike in good shape.

  3. Hose vending machine: A vending machine is installed next to the Mechanical Engineering building where common inner tubes can be purchased. This way, repairs don't fail due to an unrepairable flat tire.

  4. Bike club: On 02.12.24 our bike club is launched! This community enables all members of the university to actively exchange ideas with other cyclists, develop ideas and realize projects related to cycling. We want to work together to improve the cycling culture on our campus and realize your ideas!

  5. "Bicycle map": This overview map lists all bicycle-relevant locations in the city of Regensburg. Whether it's a bike store or a hands-on workshop - you'll find it here!

  6. Project ideas: We have numerous project ideas in the pipeline that aim to further optimize the cycling infrastructure and promote cycling. In addition to a call for proposals for a final thesis on the topic of measuring distances between traffic and bicycles, events and action days are planned to promote cycling.
