A habitat for small creatures

The Benjes hedge

The Benjeshecke is a deadwood hedge and was created by Petra Faldum (OTH) and Dr. Martin Postner (UR) four years ago. It consists of natural sections of wood and branches, which are regularly piled up between January and February to create habitats for various small animal species. In addition to spiders, woodlice, insects, mice and slow worms, even hares and hedgehogs find shelter here! The hedge not only serves biodiversity, but also helps to promote nature on campus.
