A campus podcast has been created as part of the large-scale project "One Campus - One Book"

Sapiens Kitchen - The Podcast

Take a shared kitchen, two flatmates, a few exciting guests and the big questions of human history. Stir vigorously a few times and then leave to simmer for 20 minutes. You can hear the results of this recipe in the "Sapiens Kitchen" podcast.

Here we talk about how we as humans became what we are - and how Homo Sapiens will continue to evolve on his planet.

We are inspired by Yuval Noah Harari's bestseller A Brief History of Humankind, which is now gradually being published as a three-part graphic novel. In our podcast, we focus in particular on thoughts and questions from the first graphic novel Sapiens. The Rise and talk about it with interesting people from the Regensburg campus.

Sapiens Kitchen - The Podcast is part of the major cross-campus project "One Campus - One Book" by the student initiative Netzwerk Nachhaltigkeit in collaboration with the GreenOffice at OTH Regensburg. In addition to the podcast, many other exciting events are being organized as part of this project. An overview can be found in the current program. Further information about the project can also be found here. Together, the Sustainability Network and the GreenOffice produce the podcast "Sapiens Kitchen", in which the two hosts Kiki and Lenz talk to an expert every two weeks about one of the topics relating to the graphic novel Sapiens. The Rise - it's about nothing less than the really big questions of our species:

  • How did we Homo Sapiens become the most influential species on this planet?
  • What traces have we left behind?
  • And what responsibility do we bear for the earth on which we live?

The guests come from the Regensburg campus and are not only experts on the respective topics, but also have personal points of contact. The two hosts, Kiki and Lenz, live together in a shared flat and record the podcast in their kitchen. They are also members of the Sustainability Network. Through the project "One Campus - One Book", Sapiens. The Ascent landed in their shared flat and has since become not only a permanent fixture in the kitchen, but also a constant companion in the search for answers to the big questions facing humanity. Our shared flat deep talk for you - scientifically sound and comprehensively prepared! The episodes of the podcast can be listened to on YouTube and other popular podcast platforms.

The Sustainability Network ...

... brings together committed people, groups and institutions from OTH and the University of Regensburg. Together we are committed to sustainability and a future worth living. Non-partisan, open and cooperative.

Umbrella project "One campus - one book"

The umbrella project, which is actually entitled "One University - One Book", is a program of the Klaus Tschira Foundation in cooperation with the ZEIT publishing house. Each year, the foundation and publishing house support the ten best ideas with 10,000 euros each. One of the winners is OTH Regensburg for its joint project with the Sustainability Network - "One Campus - One Book".

Since winning the competition in the summer semester of 2021, the GreenOffice has been involved in the implementation of this major project. The project is a cooperation that is being carried out under the leadership of the Sustainability Officers (Prof. Dr. Sandra Hamella and Prof. Dr. Irmgard Schroll-Decker) and the Project Office for Social Responsibility and Sustainability together with the student initiative Netzwerk Nachhaltigkeit.

Like all GreenOffice projects, "One Campus - One Book" is aimed at all members of the university.
