Campus day of the Sustainability Week 2023

"For you, your city and our world"

On Campus Day as part of the Regensburg Sustainability Week, a varied program of lectures, guided tours, workshops and stands was offered on the OTH campus grounds. For example, visitors could discover several sustainable locations on the OTH campus as part of a guided tour or find out more about sustainable topics at lectures.

In addition to a quiz on the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, the OTH Green Office organized a hands-on activity: What does the OTH need to become an even more sustainable university? Answers to this question were collected on our self-made idea tree. Many exciting ideas were collected, the best of which were selected for a vote on Open University Day. Everyone had the opportunity to vote for their favorite idea. The choice between a wider range of vegetarian or vegan alternatives in the canteen, clothes swaps, a repair workshop at the OTH or an expansion of the outdoor learning spaces was not an easy one - however, the outdoor learning spaces ultimately came out on top. The founder of the idea received a sustainability package as a prize, including vouchers for vegan restaurants and merch and discount campaigns from "Peacehand". An in-depth discussion with the winner made us aware of the importance of outdoor meeting places during the coronavirus period: places such as the popular swing, benches or tables are a good alternative to the library, especially in summer. Working together in the fresh air, chatting or even enjoying a beer or two together after completing a closed meeting strengthens the community and creates new opportunities.
